Des Moines Mental Health Center provides outpatient counseling and SUD evaluations for adults dealing with alcohol and opioid use. Non-judgmental, evidence-based, and available this week. Medicaid and all major insurances accepted.
WHY PEOPLE WAIT
Substance use does not announce itself as a problem. It builds gradually. The promises to cut back that do not hold. The way it has started affecting work, relationships, or health. The sense that it has stopped being a choice.
Coming in does not mean you are committing to anything. It means you are willing to have an honest conversation about what is happening and what your options are. That conversation is worth having.
WHAT WE TREAT
Alcohol use disorder sits on a spectrum. Some people come in because a court or employer has required it. Others come in because they have reached a point where they know something has to change. We work with all of it.
Our outpatient approach addresses the behavioral, emotional, and relational patterns around drinking. Individual counseling, SUD evaluations, and coordinated referrals for higher levels of care when needed.
Opioid dependence develops through a combination of biological, psychological, and circumstantial factors. People caught in it are not weak. They are dealing with one of the physically and neurologically hardest substances to stop using without support.
We provide individual counseling and SUD evaluations for opioid use. For individuals who need medication-assisted treatment alongside counseling, we coordinate with prescribing providers. For those who need residential or intensive outpatient care, we evaluate and refer to the appropriate level of support.
WHAT TO EXPECT
We are not here to assess your character. We are here to help you figure out what comes next.
A structured clinical intake that takes your full picture into account
Individual counseling focused on the patterns around use, not just the substance
SUD evaluations that meet court, employer, and licensing board standards
Referrals to higher levels of care when outpatient is not enough
Coordination with prescribing providers for medication-assisted treatment where applicable
